About MLS.ca
MLS.ca is an Internet portal site operated by the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA). Most real estate boards in Canada (the Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB) being one of them), upload partial listing information form their MLS systems to MLS.ca.
MLS.ca has become an important advertising vehicle to market real estate in Canada. Up to 3 million unique visitors a month visit MLS.ca.
Michael Manley, the owner/manager of Prudential Properties Plus, has been involved in the technological development of both TREB and MLS.ca, through his activities as a Director of TREB; past Chair of the TREB MLS committee; past Chair of the TREB Emerging Technology and Business Practices Task Force; and as a past Vice Chair of CREA’s M.T.C. (MLS and Technology Council) which is responsible for MLS.ca.
It is important to understand that MLS.ca is not the MLS system that agents use to facilitate the purchase and sale of properties. Agents use their respective board MLS systems, which contain MLS information in current "real time" and also contain huge amounts of historical information. The only consumer access to the information in The Toronto Real Esate Board's MLS system is through agents and their use of
Property Match which provides consumers with new listings that match their criteria from the MLS system. Agents use MLS.ca to market their MLS listings to the public.
